Resting in God

After arriving at my highly secured office building, I soon discovered I left my handbag and access card at home on the kitchen table. Immediately, I knew this terrible misgiving was the result of starting my day by being in a hurry and rushing to attend my scheduled meeting. My focus was on beating the morning traffic that starts to bottleneck around 7:30 A.M., and simply arriving on time. With my heart literally pounding, my only thought was, “I cannot be late.”

My stress level would only elevate as the security guard gave me the third degree of getting in and out of the line for security reason. I started my day with a headache and tears that were only minutes from flowing. Stress! The bottom line is rushing and being anxious over the cares of this life is not the will of God. Perhaps, this is why He said in Isaiah 26:3, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” The world that we live in is in such a hurry to be some place other than where we are. As of today, make a personal commitment to slow down, smell the roses and enjoy one of the greatest gifts that God has given to man, time.
