Making the Right Investment

By: Soundra Simpson

It’s a known fact that Americans spend billions of dollars each year on clothes, hair, make-up and plastic surgery.  A great deal of time and effort are invested in making sure the external man is put together from head to toe. Even with all of the money that is spent to maintain a portion of our youth, there is still something about time. However, Scripture reminds us, “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.”  I Peter 3:3-4. As a born again Christian we must be willing to make the same investment in matters of the heart. One of the greatest investments that we can make is to spend personal time with God by studying His Word, fasting and praying. We can rest assured that when the internal man is perfectly aligned to God’s Word, the external man will show forth the glory of God.
